Manitoulin Island to Welcome New Gravity Mountain Bike Park in Spring 2026

Manitoulin Island, Ontario – The scenic beauty of Manitoulin Island is set to welcome an exciting new attraction: a gravity mountain bike park! Under the leadership of the Manitoulin Island Cycling Advocates (MICA) and the guidance of MICA president Maya Mielenson, this innovative project is slated to be under construction throughout the summer of 2025, with its grand opening planned for spring 2026.

The gravity mountain bike park will offer a wide range of features designed to provide family-friendly fun and cater to all skill levels. Highlights of the park include:

  • Flow Trails: Smooth, winding paths designed for riders of all ages to enjoy.
  • Single Track: Narrow trails for those seeking a more technical climb to the top.
  • Pump Track: A looped track where riders can practice and perfect their bike-handling skills.
  • Skills Area: A dedicated space for beginners and experienced riders alike to build confidence and refine their technique.

“Manitoulin Island is already renowned for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. This bike park will add a new dimension to the island’s offerings, making it a must-visit destination for cycling enthusiasts and families alike,” said Maya Mielenson. “We’re thrilled to bring this project to life with the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) and our dedicated team at MICA.”

The bike park’s development aligns with MICA’s mission to promote cycling and outdoor recreation on Manitoulin Island, further solidifying its reputation as a hub for eco-tourism and adventure. The project’s emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity ensures that visitors of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the park’s offerings.

Construction of the park will provide a boost to the local economy, creating opportunities and drawing visitors to the island during and after its completion. Once open, the park is expected to become a cornerstone of Manitoulin Island’s tourism landscape, attracting bikers from across the province and beyond.
